Just as with the physical human body, the planet Earth/Gaia has an energy that vivifies it. With the human body it is the spirit/soul, and so it is with the planet. The evidence of this is the internal fire.

The planet play host to many different species and supports them as they inhabit to work through their own individual purposes of consciousness.

Earth/Gaia is a benign mother, and just as a human mother will tolerate some abuse from those she loves, there comes a time to show displeasure. All beings desire respect for their intrinsic integrity and if there has been abuse, a time for balancing and healing is called for.
